Buller takes top step for Fortec

26th July 2013, Spa – Will Buller dominated race one in this morning’s Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series at Spa-Francorchamps. The young Brit came from the fourth row of the grid to take his second win of the season and extend his lead in the championship. Unfortunately team-mate Felipe Guimaraes fell victim to the troublesome hairpin first corner of La Source.

A downpour an hour before the start of the race saw wet conditions for the grid but Buller seized the opportunity to show his experience. As pole-sitter Nicholas Latifi crashed out at Eau Rouge, Buller stormed into the lead going fastest in sectors two and three.

As the race continued, Buller demonstrated his wealth of Formula Three knowledge as he used the wet conditions to his advantage and continued to gain pace, extending his lead over Jordan King (Carlin). Buller maintained his speed and by lap seven had extended his lead to over four seconds.

On the penultimate lap of the race a collision towards the middle of the field, a safety car period followed up until the chequered flag seeing Buller take the first win of the weekend.

Commenting after the race Buller said: “We had a difficult day yesterday with suspension issues. The race was good, I like the wet here and I’ve won here before, so I was feeling confident. I got into the lead and pulled out a nice gap. The car was great and I’m really looking forward to the race later, I think we’ll be strong now whatever the weather. I’ll start eighth in the next race, but I came from seventh in this one, so I’m pretty use to it!”
