Deletraz on the highest step of the podium in the first race of the season

An exciting start for the Fortec team, who dominated the first weekend of the Formula 3.5 V8 season.

Louis Deletraz, Fortec driver, soon gained the summit of both free practice sessions, and then managed the front row in qualifying after Orudzhev of Arden. In the top positions also saw his teammate, Pietro Fittipaldi, who finished on the 4th row.

At the start of Race 1, Deletraz was immediately queued behind Orudzhev but the Arden driver made a mistake in downhill variant damaging the car. The Swiss of Fortec took the first position and he never left until the checkered flag. Fittipaldi took damage to his front wing and sadly slipped down the order from 5th, battling hard but eventually finishing 11th.

Sunday saw the second qualifying, Deletraz scored the 2nd row in third place and Fittipaldi the 6th. The weekend ended with the 5th place of Deletraz after an incident on the first corner, pushing Louis to dead last. Deletraz managed to fight his way back through the grid to finish a respectable 5th and fastest rookie, with Fittipaldi not far behind in 9th.

A great start for the Fortec team that is one of the strongest in the league. The next event will be next weekend, 23-24 April, in Hungary.
