01 Nov Fortec Motorsports confirm a five-car line-up for Macau
1st November 2013, Daventry – Fortec Motorsports are pleased to confirm a five-car line-up for the 2013 prestigious Macau Grand Prix. The Daventry based team will field five current Fortec drivers: Eurocup racer Ed Jones, FIA Formula 3 European Championship drivers Pipo Derani and John Bryant-Meisner and British F3 racer Will Buller. Current FIA F3 driver Tom Blomqvist makes a welcome return to the team to take part in the blue ribbon event of the Formula 3 calendar.
The 2012 Macau Grand Prix saw Fortec’s Alex Lynn finish on the podium in third place and the team is heading out to China with high expectations for the squad.
Macau rookie Bryant-Meisner joined Fortec for the last two rounds of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship this season and enjoyed a competitive few races, finishing within the points in his debut weekend.
“I have heard so many stories about racing at Macau, and to actually go there myself this year is a bit of a dream come true,” said Bryant-Meisner. “I really can’t wait to get out on track, but – having said that – I’m very much aware that I will have to take things step by step. I will be fortunate enough to lean on the experience of Fortec Motorsports – who traditionally have a strong car at Macau. I will go there in a very realistic frame of mind and simply aim to learn as much as possible, and hopefully I can do a solid job.”
Also aiming to make a strong impression on his first visit to Macau is Eurocup racer Ed Jones. The 18-year-old from Dubai has been racing with Fortec in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup series this season and has proved himself to be a rising talent, finishing eleventh in the overall standings.
Fortec FIA F3 regular Pipo Derani joins the team for his second outing in the Chinese classic. The young Brazilian will be aiming to better his credible top ten finish of sixth place in last year’s event, and after a successful F3 season so far has demonstrated his ability to do so.
Making a welcome return to Fortec motorsports are Will Buller and Tom Blomqvist. Buller competed in the British F3 with the team this year, which saw him finish third in the championship.
Current FIA F3 racer Blomqvist first raced with Fortec in Formula Renault UK and is looking forward to returning to the squad for the Macau grand prix:
“I’m extremely excited to be heading back to Macau this year with Fortec. They were very competitive last year and I don’t see why we can’t be fighting at the very front this time round. I can’t wait to hit the track – it’s an incredible place! I would like to thank Fortec and everyone involved for the opportunity.”
Commenting on finalising the Macau line-up, Team manager Andi Scott said:
“We are really looking forward to going to Macau again and I am happy to welcome Will and Tom back to the team to join Ed, John and Pipo. We have a really strong line-up and I’m confident of some good results.”
The 2013 60th Macau Grand Prix takes place on the 14th-17th of November.
