16 May Kirchhofer to join Fortec Motorsports for British F3
16th May 2015, Daventry – Reigning German Formula Three champion Marvin Kirchhofer will join Fortec Motorsports in the second round of the Cooper Tires British Formula Three at Silverstone.
Lining up alongside Matt Rao and Martin Cao, Kirchhofer will replace British F3 race winner Sam Macleod, who had signed a one off deal for the opening round at Rockingham due to having other racing commitments.
20-year-old Kirchhofer impressed the team at a recent test in Valencia and British F3 Team Manager, Dan Mitchell, is looking forward to having him on the team:
“We are very happy to have Marvin on board he is a proven race winner and can hopefully continue this with us at Silverstone.” Said Mitchell. “With his experience in Formula cars he will be a great benchmark to our drivers and a good asset to British Formula 3”
Kirchhofer has an impressive single-seater CV despite graduating from karting just two years ago. The young German took the German Formula Three championship title last year and won the ADAC Formel Masters in 2012. He has made the switch to GP3 for the 2014 season
“I’m really happy to be back racing with Fortec Motorsport! After a good test in 2013, I’m optimistic to race for the win in Silverstone! It’s a great opportunity for me, getting some experience at Silverstone and try to improve myself with a bit more racing. I’m looking forward to this weekend with Fortec Motorsport!” Commented Kirchhofer.
After taking multiple podium finishes in the opening British F3 round at Rockingham, the team are now hoping to maintain their place at the top of the standings.
“Both Martin (Cao) and Matt (Rao) have been working hard and are high on confidence so we hope to continue our form from Rockingham onto Silverstone,” commented Team Manager Dan Mitchell.
The second round of the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 takes place on the 24th/25th May on the Silverstone GP circuit.
