19 Sep Hungaroring sees highs and lows
14th & 15th September 2013 – Taking to the track of the Hungaroring, Hungary, it was a weekend of some mixed emotions for the Fortec Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup squad.
Conditions for race one on Saturday were very wet, calling for the safety car to lead the drivers off before making its exit on lap three. Ed Jones was unable to start his car on the grid, sending him to the back of the pack before the start of the race.
Dennis was pushing hard and whilst others made mistakes on the wet track the young racer drove through the pack. A battle soon ensued for a place in the top three; Oliver Rowland (MP Motorsport) attempted to make a move on lap ten but ran out of space and came together with Dennis, allowing Nyck de Vries (Koiranen GP) to dive into third whilst they fell down the order.
In a race that saw a number of off-track excursions, Dennis took the best result for the team in fifth whilst Pakari crossed the line in fourteenth and Tveter 24th. Jones was later awarded a ten-second time penalty and finished the race in 27th.
Race two saw a dry start with all the Fortec team making good starts and staying out of trouble. Several battles were played out on the twisting Hungaroring track, resulting in Jones and Dennis both finishing inside the top ten in seventh and ninth respectively. Pakari was next in the team to cross the line in 21st followed by Tveter in 27th.
