Podium success for Barnicoat in ALPS finale

The Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS championship held its final two races of the season this weekend at the Spanish circuit of Jerez de le Frontera. Ben Barnicoat enjoyed a podium finish in both races, taking the win in Sunday’s race. The team also gained multiple success with both Barnicoat’s podium finishes and victory, in addition to a pole position start from Martin Kodric in the second and final race of the weekend.

All four of the Fortec cars progressed during the first race of the weekend, with the best result produced by Barnicoat taking a third place finish in the race. Jehan Daruvala started the race from sixth while Kodric was not too far behind in eighth. Stefan Riener began the race from fifteenth but was able to progress up four places to cross the line in eleventh. Daruvala finished the race in sixth closely followed by Kodric in seventh.

Barnicoat took a victory finish in the final race of the season after starting from third on the grid. After setting his first career’s pole position, Kodric suffered an unfortunate 10 second penalty after jumping the start that relegated him to fourth. Daruvala started the race from further back on the grid in fourteenth but was able to progress up the grid, gaining six positions to cross the line in eighth while Riener finished in fifteenth.
