29 Jun Triple win at Croft
The first race of the weekend came to a dramatic close after Dan Ticktum took the race lead in the final corner after contact with Norris. Ticktum, after starting in second, chased Norris from the start.
Throughout the race duration, Ticktum continued to put pressure on the race leader who had to defend every move.
As they went into the final corner, Ticktum, who had continued to close the gap, dived up the inside of Norris. Norris and Ticktum collided causing Norris to go off course and Ticktum, despite damage, went on to cross the line in first, taking the race win.
Josh Smith, after starting in eleventh, was able to make up two places during the race, crossing the line in eighth.
The second race of the weekend saw our Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver, Josh Smith take his maiden race win. After starting on pole, Smith got off to a perfect getaway and by the end of the opening lap, Smith was six-tenths ahead of Carlin driver, Herta.
Smith charged ahead and by mid-distance he was a second and a half in the clear. Dominating the race, Smith went on to finish with a four second advantage.
Despite being able to close the gap to Reddy, Ticktum was unable to make the move and finished the race in seventh. Ticktum took the win in the third and final race of the weekend after defending throughout the race duration.
Starting behind Norris in second, Ticktum got a great start taking the lead instantly and pulled clear as they entered Clervaux for the first time. Ticktum was able to pull a car’s length advantage on the opening lap but had to constantly defend his lead.
Despite frequent attempts by Norris to take the lead, Ticktum defended well and went on to take the win, making it Fortec’s third win of the weekend.
After Saturday’s win, Smith suffered an early end to his third race. Smith was forced to pull into the pits after just one lap with a fuel pressure issue.
